What does it cost?
Our service is FREE
Where is it?
We are located at Slough Young People's Centre, 323 High Street Slough SL1 1TX.
How do I make an appointment?
Please telephone our confidential phone line, 01753 824155 or e-mail us at talk2sypc@slough.gov.uk. Alternatively, you could ask your parent, teacher, or any one else you trust to ring for you. When you telephone for an appointment, please leave a message with your name and phone number on our confidential phone line. You will be called back and either given an appointment or placed on our waiting list. When an appointment time becomes available we will contact you and book you in. We try to keep the waiting list to a minimum. When we call please feel free to ask whatever questions you want.
When you come for your first session, we will spend the first part taking some information, this allows us to find out about you and your problems, whether you have a support network, what your expectations and goals of our work together may be.
Please don't worry if you feel anxious, or concerned you will be upset, it's all part of the process - it's a big step, and a very brave one.
Who funds us?
We are supported by Slough Borough Council
The Counsellors
Our Counsellors go through a very careful selection process and undergo a police check (CRB) in accordance with current government requirements. They are required to keep their skills up to date by attending training courses each year. We are a member of BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy) and abide by their Code of Ethics and Practice. Copies are available on request.
Can I bring someone with me for support?
If you feel you need to , however, counselling sessions are confidential therefore they would not be able to attend the actual session, but are welcome to wait for you. A young person may wish a parent to accompany them, or to speak to us prior to the session, which is fine.
Do you do counselling by phone
Yes, please contact me for details.
How many appointments will I need to have?
That will depend on the type of issues you wish to work on. This is something we will discuss at our initial session, to find the right amount for you.
Do you give advice?
Counselling is about helping you feel strong enough to make choices about your situation.

Mainly B - You probably have some good relationships around you to share problems.
Mainly C - You seem to have good coping skills to deal with most difficulties.
